Timbiriche

pictureMEXICAN SINGERS TEACH YOU SPANISH

Timbiriche was always the greatest of the Mexican “kids groups”, and many members went on to become superstars of pop music and TV shows. Their peppy innocence and pure vocals drove a long series of hits in the juveniles sections, and even infantiles covers of Cri-Cri.
It’s hard not to smile listening to “Soy Un Desastre” or “Mexico” with cute little Paulina trilling the solo. As they got a little older, they cemented their fame by doing the musical “Vaselina” (Mexican version of “Grease”) on stage, screen and album.

Among their famous alumni were Sasha, who had a big run of hot albums, Thalia, who was a huge star and married Columbia/Sony CEO and starmaker Tony Mottola, and their youngest member, Paulina? Her last name is Rubio.
“Ya llego la banda” is a great schoolyard brag/anthem with each member introducing themselves in turn.

grita fuerte timbiriche
y te iremos a ayudar
hey, hey, hey, ya llego la banda
esta banda es la mejor,
de la escuela es el temor.
hey, hey, hey, ya llego la banda
esta banda es la mejor,
de la escuela es el temor.
ya llego timbirivhe
ya llego timbiriche
ya llego timbiriche
ya llego!

YA LLEGO LA BANDA

I’m the boss of all seven
Not true, I’m the boss
And if you want a joke, guess you pays
I’m the most intelligent
And I’m the champion
But if there’s a problem, I always solve it
hey, hey, hey, the band’s arrived
This band is the best
We’re the terror of the school
I’m the most important
Not true, that’d be me
One for all
And all for one
If you get in a jam
And don’t know who to call
Yell out “Timbiriche!”
And we’ll come to the rescue
hey, hey, hey, the band is here
This band is the best
We’re the terror of the school
hey, hey, hey, the band is here
This band is the best
We’re the terror of the school
Here comes Timbiriche
Here comes Timbiriche
Here comes Timbiriche
We’re here!

Here’s that “Mexico” video. It’s a reminder that Mexicans are a lot more patriotic than most Americans… as well as a rousing kiddie hit. Watch for Paulina’s solo, there.
