There are links below to collections of poetry and short pieces, but more people read my novels than anything else (other than my Mexican Slang books). I've gotten quite a few out there for your reading pleasure, both from presses and my own publication. Poetry has been a major part of my writing from the first days I ever wrote anything down for my own pleasure or the pleasure of others. My first creative writing was probably a poem. I strongly identified with poetry in college, and it was the driving force behind my publishing the "Eidolon" journal, my involvement in the revolutionary "Dogtown Poetry Theater", and my publication of a line of poetry as small "City Lights" style books.
I am going to publish several volumes this year, starting with some innovative ways of publishing "Engines of Desire", my flagship book of poems.


Having spent so much of my life in magazines wasn't a total waste--I have a LOT of short pieces laying around and am beginning to publish them this year. These range from articles in Penthouse, Hustler, Harpers, and so forth, as well as essays and a bit of short fiction.
